Living on board: Bajo, part 2

The first time I went to Labuan Bajo, I only went to Le Pirate Island, just for 3 days, 2 nights. This time I'll tell you about a 3-day, 2-night open trip living on a boat, or as the cool kids call it, Living on Board (LOB).

Same theme as before: trying some self-healing after getting COVID and watching the one I loved marry someone else. This time I tried it by joining a Living on Board open trip in Labuan Bajo.

Overall it was a really fun experience, especially going solo. You meet lots of new people you don't know, then you get close, and to this day we're still friends who reply to each other's stories on Instagram.

Let's go through it one by one, starting with the costs.

What Labuan Bajo cost me

I went from 2 to 9 November 2021. The LOB itself was 5–7 November 2021.

I joined a trip with Papiton (they organise it), and the boat I got was the Amore II.

The boat for 3D2N, all included, was Rp2,900,000.

Return flights from Bali to Bajo came to Rp1,200,000.

Then I stayed at Seasta for Rp200,000 a night. I stayed 5 nights in total, so I paid Rp1,000,000.

Plus renting a motorbike while I was there, Rp75,000 a day.

That's just transport and accommodation.

For food I could spend Rp50,000–Rp75,000. You can get it cheaper if you don't eat at cafés.

Getting around Labuan Bajo

I spent most of my time at the Seasta hotel restaurant, because I was working there too.

In the afternoons I'd ride around town. I've kind of forgotten where I went, since this trip was back in November.

What I remember most is heading along the road towards Ayana until it ran out at a dead end, then turning back.

I didn't take many photos back then, only drone shots.
